Myanmar — Transport & Getting Around

Yangon International Airport is the principal gateway, with a reduced roster of international flights, mostly via regional hubs such as Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Domestic carriers still link Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyidaw, but schedules are subject to disruption. Within cities, licensed taxis and ride-hailing apps (where they still operate) are the safe choice, and hotel-arranged cars are wise after dark. Overland travel passes through military and militia checkpoints and contested territory and should be minimised; overland crossings into the eastern border enclaves must be avoided entirely.
