Myanmar — Neighborhoods

Yangon's downtown and inner townships hold what nightlife survives — hotel bars, KTV and karaoke lounges, and restaurants — with Mandalay offering a smaller version and Naypyidaw almost none. This guide does not map an adult scene, because paid sex is illegal and any informal activity routed through these venues carries the full legal and safety risk set out on the country page. Far more dangerous are the border towns — Myawaddy, Muse, Mong La and the Wa enclaves — which run casinos, unregulated vice economies and trafficking-linked scam compounds, and are among the most dangerous places in the region. They are not destinations; do not go.
