Malta — Transport & Getting Around

Malta has no trains or trams — the public network is buses (Malta Public Transport), slow in traffic but comprehensive, with a cash single around EUR 2.50 (more at night) or cheaper via the Tallinja card/app. Bolt, Uber and local operator eCabs all run and are cheap by EU standards; they are the sensible way home from Paceville at 04:00. Traffic drives on the left and congestion around Sliema/St Julian's is chronic.

Malta International (MLA) at Luqa is the only airport: X-route express buses connect it to Valletta, Sliema and St Julian's, and white taxis sell fixed-fare vouchers inside the terminal. For Gozo, the Ċirkewwa–Mġarr ferry runs around the clock (about EUR 4.65 return, paid on the way back), plus a fast ferry from Valletta.
