Malta — Neighborhoods

St Julian's (Paceville) — the island's concentrated nightlife zone: a few dense blocks of clubs, shot bars and late venues, plus several so-called gentlemen's clubs; it is rowdy, young and heavily bounced, with clip-joint-style drink pressure a known complaint in the strip venues. Valletta — Strait Street was the Mediterranean's famous sailor red-light strip until the 1970s; it is now gentrified wine bars, and the history is the only adult element left. Sliema/Gzira — the apartment-based, online-advertised scene clusters in these rental-heavy seafront districts. Street work historically concentrated around Marsa, away from tourist areas. Note the legal frame: selling sex itself is not illegal in Malta, but soliciting and brothel-keeping are, so nothing operates openly as a licensed venue.
