Latvia — Transport & Getting Around

Riga runs an integrated tram, trolleybus and bus network under Rīgas Satiksme; a single e-ticket costs about EUR 1.50 (more if bought from the driver), with day passes available via the Rīgas Satiksme app. Bolt is the dominant ride-hailing app and is cheaper and safer than flagging street taxis, which have a long record of overcharging tourists around the Old Town. The airport (RIX) is 10 km from the centre: bus 22 runs into the city for around EUR 2, and a Bolt ride costs roughly EUR 10-15 depending on time of day.

Latvia is small enough that domestic flights are irrelevant. Suburban trains from Riga Central Station reach the beach resort of Jūrmala in about 30 minutes for under EUR 2, and intercity coaches (Lux Express and local operators) cover Liepāja, Daugavpils and the other Baltic capitals cheaply.
