Euro since 2014. Cards and contactless are accepted almost everywhere, including small bars, but adult venues and independent providers are overwhelmingly cash businesses — withdraw from bank-branded ATMs (Swedbank, SEB, Citadele) and skip the standalone Euronet machines, which push poor dynamic-conversion rates. Always choose to be charged in euros, never your home currency.

Tipping is modest: 5-10% in restaurants if service is not included, round up in taxis. Watch card terminals in Old Town clubs — the overcharging scam sometimes runs through inflated card transactions, so check the amount on screen before tapping.
