Jordan — Transport & Getting Around

Amman's yellow taxis are cheap but insist on the meter; Uber and Careem are both legal, widely used and the easier option for non-Arabic speakers. The city has a bus-rapid-transit network and Amman Bus routes, but coverage is patchy and most visitors stick to ride-hail. Intercity, JETT coaches connect Amman with Petra and Aqaba reliably, and Royal Jordanian flies the one useful domestic hop, Amman-Aqaba, in under an hour.

Queen Alia International (AMM) lies about 35 km south of Amman: the Airport Express bus runs to the city for a few dinars, or take a fixed-price taxi (roughly JOD 20-25 to central Amman, 45 minutes in normal traffic).
