Greece — Transport & Getting Around

Athens Metro (three lines) runs on flat fares of €1.20 for 90 minutes, with a dedicated €9 airport ticket on Line 3 to Eleftherios Venizelos. Trams, trolleys and OSY buses share the same ticketing via the Ath.ena card. Taxis are metered (yellow in Athens, blue in Thessaloniki); FreeNow and Beat are the dominant hailing apps, and Uber operates only as Uber Taxi.

Domestic flights on Aegean and Sky Express connect Athens to the islands and Thessaloniki cheaply if booked ahead. Ferries from Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio (Blue Star, Hellenic Seaways, SeaJets) reach the Cyclades, Dodecanese and Crete; book via Ferryhopper.
