Greece uses the euro (EUR). Cards are accepted almost everywhere in cities since the post-2015 capital-controls reforms, but tavernas, kiosks (periptera), island cash-only rooms and taxis outside Athens often still prefer cash. Contactless works on the metro turnstiles in Athens.

ATMs at Greek banks (Alpha, Piraeus, Eurobank, National Bank) usually charge €2–3 per foreign withdrawal; avoid the standalone Euronet machines in tourist zones, which impose much higher fees and poor DCC rates — always decline conversion and pay in euros. Tipping is 5–10% in restaurants if service is not included, and rounding up for taxis and cafés.
