Bangladesh — Transport & Getting Around

Dhaka traffic is among the worst on earth — 10 km can take 90 minutes, so schedule around it. Pathao (bikes and cars) and Uber both operate and are far better than negotiating with CNG auto-rickshaw drivers, who don't use meters in practice. The Dhaka Metro Line 6 (Uttara–Motijheel), opened in stages from 2022, is the one fast north–south escape. Intercity trains leave from Kamalapur station; book ahead.

Domestic flights are the sane way to cover distance: Biman and US-Bangla link Dhaka with Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Chattogram and Saidpur cheaply. Hazrat Shahjalal International (DAC) is about 17 km north of central Dhaka but allow one to two hours by road.
