Most Western passport holders can get a 30-day tourist visa on arrival at DAC for roughly USD 50, payable in cash — bring the fee in USD, a hotel booking and a return ticket, and expect paperwork and queues. Arranging a visa in advance through an embassy is slower but more predictable, and mandatory for some purposes. Regional overland entries with VOA are less reliable than the airport.

Hazrat Shahjalal International (DAC) is the main gateway, with the new Terminal 3 improving what was long a difficult arrival experience; Chattogram (CGP) and Sylhet (ZYL) take some international flights, mostly Gulf routes.
