Bahrain — Transport & Getting Around

No metro or rail — Bahrain is small enough that everything on the main island is a 10-30 minute drive. Uber and Careem both operate and are the sensible default; street taxis routinely overcharge tourists, so insist on the meter or agree a fare first. The public bus network (air-conditioned, flat low fares) exists but is oriented at commuting workers, not visitors. Bahrain International Airport (BAH) sits on Muharraq island roughly 7 km from central Manama — 15-20 minutes by taxi or app car to the Juffair and Hoora hotel districts.

The King Fahd Causeway links Bahrain to Saudi Arabia and drives the weekend dynamic: Thursday-Saturday nights bring a heavy influx of Saudi visitors and hotel bars fill accordingly. There are no domestic flights.
