Bahrain — Currency & Money

The Bahraini dinar (BHD) is pegged to the US dollar at roughly USD 2.65 per dinar — one of the highest-value currencies in the world, subdivided into 1,000 fils, so double-check decimal places when paying. Cards are accepted almost everywhere and ATMs are plentiful in Manama; there is no need to carry large cash amounts.

Tipping is around 10% where no service charge is added. Alcohol is heavily taxed and hotel-bar prices are high by regional standards. Budget accordingly: Bahrain is cheaper than Dubai but still a premium-priced Gulf destination.
