Trinidad & Tobago — Transport & Getting Around

Port of Spain moves on route taxis (shared sedans with H-prefix number plates running fixed corridors for a few TT dollars), colour-banded maxi-taxis (minibuses — yellow band for the western corridor, red for east), and PTSC public buses from City Gate terminal. None of it is tourist-oriented and little of it runs late; after dark use a hotel-arranged car or a vetted private driver. Uber does not operate; small local ride-hailing apps exist but coverage is patchy, and unmarked "PH" private-hire cars are a documented robbery risk — avoid flagging them.

Piarco International (POS) is about 25 km east of Port of Spain; authorised airport taxis use posted fixed fares, roughly US$30-40 to the city, more after 22:00. For Tobago, Caribbean Airlines runs the subsidised 25-minute air bridge from Piarco to Crown Point many times daily — cheap but book ahead around Carnival and public holidays — and the inter-island ferry links Port of Spain to Scarborough in about 4 hours.
