South Korea — Currency & Money
Korean Won (KRW), roughly 1,350–1,400 per USD through 2026. Card penetration is world-leading — plastic works virtually everywhere in Seoul including street stalls; keep some cash for traditional markets and rural areas. Foreign-card ATMs labelled "Global ATM" at CU, 7-Eleven and GS25 convenience stores, and at KEB Hana, Woori and Shinhan bank branches, accept most Western cards, with per-withdrawal fees around KRW 3,500–4,000 plus your issuer's charge.
Tipping is not customary and can cause polite confusion; high-end hotels and Western-style restaurants may already add a 10% service charge to the bill.
