Russia — Transport & Getting Around
Moscow Metro is fast, cheap and iconic (single ride RUB 62 on Troika card, RUB 70 cash). St Petersburg Metro runs on similar tokens/cards. Yandex Go is the dominant ride-hailing app after Uber's 2018 merger with Yandex Taxi — Bolt operates in some cities but Western apps like Uber proper are gone. Aeroexpress trains link central Moscow to Sheremetyevo (SVO), Domodedovo (DME) and Vnukovo (VKO) for ~RUB 500 in 35–45 minutes.
Domestic flights on Aeroflot, S7 and low-cost Pobeda connect the country; sleeper trains (Sapsan high-speed Moscow–St Petersburg, ~4 hours) remain popular. Foreign bank cards do not work on any transport ticketing since 2022 — carry cash or a Mir/UnionPay card.
