Paraguay — Transport & Getting Around

Asunción has no rail transit and a chaotic, aging bus network — default to apps: Uber, Bolt and the local MUV all operate across Greater Asunción and are cheap. Street taxis are pricier and effectively unmetered; agree the fare first. Walking distances are deceptive and the heat brutal from October to March, so budget app rides everywhere.

Silvio Pettirossi airport (ASU) is in Luque, 30-45 minutes from the hotel districts depending on traffic. Domestic flying is minimal; long-distance coaches from the Terminal de Ómnibus reach Ciudad del Este and Encarnación in roughly 5-6 hours each. The Friendship Bridge crossing to Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil) is walkable but chaotic — keep documents on you and get exit and entry stamps even though locals cross freely without them.
