Macau — Neighborhoods
Macau Peninsula — the ZAPE/NAPE blocks around the older casino core were historically the centre of the scene: hotel sauna floors, nightclubs and the infamous casino-hotel lobby circuits. That era has largely ended — the 2014 mainland anti-corruption drive, a high-profile 2015 police raid that shut the best-known hotel operation, and the 2021–22 junket collapse each cut deeper — and what remains is discreet: sauna-spa floors in some peninsula hotels and freelancers working casino bars. Cotai — the mega-resort strip is heavily surveilled and visibly clean. Rua da Felicidade, the historic red-light lane, is now a heritage dining street.
Independent sex work by an adult is not itself a crime in Macau; organizing, procuring or living off it is, under Law 6/97/M (the organized-crime law) and the Penal Code's procuring provisions — which is why nothing is openly advertised.
