The pataca (MOP) is pegged at about 1.03 to the Hong Kong dollar, and HKD is accepted at par virtually everywhere — casinos deal exclusively in HKD. You'll often receive change in MOP; spend patacas before leaving, as they are hard to exchange outside Macau. Cards are accepted throughout the resorts, but small restaurants and taxis want cash. Tipping is not expected; hotels and restaurants add a 10% service charge.
