Dominican Republic — Transport & Getting Around

Santo Domingo has a two-line metro (fares around RD 0–35 with a rechargeable card) plus OMSA buses, but most visitors use Uber, InDrive, or Cabify, which are cheap and work well in Santo Domingo and Santiago. Motoconchos (moto-taxis) are everywhere and risky. Intercity, Caribe Tours and Expreso Bávaro coaches are comfortable and cheap, and 'guaguas' (shared minibuses) cover everything else. From Las Américas (SDQ) into the Zona Colonial expect roughly USD 40 by taxi, about 30 minutes.

Punta Cana (PUJ) is the biggest arrival airport — prebook a transfer for the 20–40 minute run to Bávaro. Puerto Plata (POP) serves the north coast and is around 20–30 minutes from Sosúa by taxi.
