Dominican Republic — Neighborhoods

Sosúa, on the north coast near Puerto Plata, is the country's — and arguably the Caribbean's — best-known adult-tourism town: the scene runs along and off the Pedro Clisante strip in El Batey, a compact zone of bars, clubs, and freelancers, while Los Charamicos across the bay is the local side of town. Boca Chica, 30 km east of the capital, is the older and rougher equivalent, centred on Calle Duarte by the beach. Santo Domingo spreads the scene across the Malecón casino hotels, Zona Colonial bars, and app- and apartment-based providers in Naco and Piantini.

Punta Cana/Bávaro has no open district — resort security keeps it out of the hotels — but freelancers work the El Cortecito/Los Corales bar zone. Santiago runs on 'car wash' bars and local clubs with little tourist presence. Selling sex by adults is not a crime in the DR, but the businesses around it operate in a legal grey zone.
