There is no ride-hailing to rely on and rental cars are scarce; visitors move by negotiated taxi, and every fare — classic-car and yellow state cab alike — must be fixed before getting in. José Martí (HAV) Terminal 3 to Vedado or Old Havana takes 25–35 minutes; agree a hard-currency price (roughly USD 25–30) at the rank. Viazul air-conditioned coaches link Havana with Varadero, Viñales, Trinidad, and Santiago but sell out days ahead — book online early. Shared 'colectivo' taxis cover the same routes faster for similar money.

Domestic flights are unreliable, with frequent cancellations and cut routes; take the bus or a colectivo where possible.
