Sex work between adults is an administrative offence under Article 181-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (fine, no criminal record); pimping, brothel-keeping and trafficking are criminal under Articles 302 and 303 of the Criminal Code. Age of consent is 16 (Criminal Code Article 155, as amended in 2018). Drug possession is prosecuted under Articles 307-309, with custodial terms possible for even small quantities of cannabis. If detained, request a lawyer and consular notification immediately.

The US, UK, Canadian, Australian and most EU embassies operate in Kyiv with reduced staffing; several relocated to Lviv in early 2022 and have since partially returned.
