Foreign visitors are not covered by Taiwan's National Health Insurance, so full travel insurance including medical evacuation is essential; private hospitals such as Taipei Adventist and Chang Gung Memorial handle English-speaking care and will bill international insurers directly for larger claims.

For STI screening and PrEP, the Taiwan CDC funds anonymous testing at designated clinics in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung; the Taiwan Lourdes Association and Harmony Home run walk-in sexual-health services in Taipei. Emergency contraception is available over the counter at pharmacies without prescription.
