Sweden — Neighborhoods

Stockholm — Sweden has no legal red-light district; the Sex Purchase Act eliminated visible street work in Malmskillnadsgatan by the mid-2000s. Norrmalm and Östermalm hold the central hotels; Södermalm (SoFo, Medborgarplatsen) is the main nightlife belt with bars and clubs. Stureplan draws the upscale weekend crowd. Gothenburg — Avenyn is the main bar strip; Linné and Järntorget are the alternative scenes. Malmö — Möllevången and Lilla Torg concentrate bars and clubs; the Öresund bridge puts Copenhagen 35 minutes away, and many visitors base themselves on the Danish side for a looser regulatory environment.
