Sweden — Insurance

EU/EEA visitors use EHIC/GHIC for emergency public care; UK holders retain GHIC reciprocity post-Brexit. Non-EU travellers need private travel insurance — public ER visits for tourists run several thousand SEK. The national health hotline 1177 (also 1177.se) triages care in English and directs to walk-in centres (vårdcentral) and after-hours akutmottagning.

For sexual health, Sesam clinics (Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö) offer STI testing and contraception; Venhälsan at Södersjukhuset in Stockholm is the specialist HIV/STI clinic for MSM. Testing is free for residents and low-cost for visitors. PEP is available within 36 hours through hospital ER. Condoms are sold at Apotek pharmacies and ICA supermarkets.
