South Africa — Transport & Getting Around
Uber and Bolt operate reliably in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria — always in-app, never street-hail metered taxis. The Gautrain links OR Tambo to Sandton (~ZAR 200) and continues to Pretoria; Cape Town's MyCiTi bus covers the CBD, Atlantic Seaboard and the airport route.
Minibus taxis are cheap but generally not advised for visitors unfamiliar with the routes and security context. Domestic flights on FlySafair, Airlink and Lift connect JNB–CPT–DUR frequently and are often cheaper than driving. Self-drive is common; toll roads use e-tags but rentals handle billing.
