South Africa — Neighborhoods
Cape Town — Green Point and Sea Point on the Atlantic Seaboard historically hosted the visible adult scene alongside gay nightlife on De Waterkant's Somerset Road; Long Street in the CBD is the main backpacker/bar strip. Johannesburg — Sandton and Rosebank are the upmarket business districts where visitors normally base themselves; the older Hillbrow and Berea red-light corridor is high-crime and not tourist territory.
Durban — the Point Waterfront and Point Road area historically concentrated the adult trade; the beachfront promenade north toward uMhlanga is the safer nightlife zone. Pretoria — Hatfield around the university clusters bars and student nightlife.
