Most Western travel insurers either exclude Russia entirely or void cover under sanctions clauses since 2022 — check the policy wording carefully; specialist brokers (battleface, Global Rescue and some Turkish or UAE insurers) still write policies. Medical evacuation to a third country is the single most valuable component given restricted flight options. Carry the policy in printed form; insurers cannot always be reached from inside Russia.

For STI screening, state kozhno-venerologicheskiy dispanser (KVD) clinics offer low-cost anonymous testing; private options include the European Medical Center (EMC) and GMS Clinic in Moscow, and Medem in St Petersburg. HIV PEP is available at infectious-disease hospitals but must be started within 72 hours.
