Puerto Rico — Neighborhoods
San Juan — visitor nightlife splits between Condado (upscale hotel-casino strip), Isla Verde (beach hotels and casinos near the airport), Old San Juan (bar-heavy colonial core, Calle San Sebastián), and La Placita de Santurce, the market square that turns into the city's biggest open-air party Thursday through Saturday. Legally this is the United States: prostitution is a criminal offence under the Puerto Rico Penal Code, as everywhere in the US outside rural Nevada, and US federal law (including the 2018 FOSTA-SESTA online-platform statute) applies in full. There is no red-light district; what exists is online-arranged and discreet, strip clubs operate legally in the metro area, and stings do occur, so the legal exposure matches Miami rather than the Dominican Republic next door. Ponce and Rincón have small bar scenes and nothing organised. Ordinary caution applies at night in Santurce side streets and La Perla.
