Currency is the Polish zloty (PLN); Poland is in the EU but has not adopted the euro. Cards are accepted almost everywhere in cities including small bars, kiosks and taxis — contactless is universal. Carry a small amount of cash for markets, older milk bars and rural areas. ATMs from Polish banks (PKO, Pekao, Santander) are cheapest; avoid Euronet standalones which charge poor rates and offer dynamic currency conversion — always decline DCC and pay in PLN.

Tipping is 10% in sit-down restaurants if service is not already included; saying "dziekuje" while paying can be interpreted as "keep the change," so state the amount clearly. Round up taxi fares. Bars and clubs do not expect tips.
