Peru — Neighborhoods
Independent sex work by adults 18+ is legal in Peru; pimping and exploitation are crimes under Penal Code articles 179-181, and some municipalities license venues with health-card requirements, so the scene splits between a small licensed sector and a much larger informal one. Lima — Miraflores is the tourist base, with nightlife concentrated around Parque Kennedy and the Calle San Ramón (Pizza Street) strip where freelance contact is most visible late; Barranco is the bohemian bar district next door; Lince and the centre hold lower-priced, locally-oriented venues. Cusco — nightlife rings the Plaza de Armas and caters heavily to backpackers.
The critical caveats: the age of consent is 14 following a 2012 Constitutional Tribunal ruling, but paying anyone under 18 for sex is a serious felony with client liability — verify age and err hard on the side of caution. Separately, drink-spiking robberies targeting men leaving nightlife venues (the pepera pattern, often involving scopolamine-type drugs) are well documented in Lima and Cusco; never leave a drink unattended and be wary of unusually forward approaches.
