No insurance is required for entry, but carry a policy with solid medical cover — the private hospitals in Punta Pacífica and Paitilla are among the best in Central America and bill accordingly. Private laboratories in Panama City run same-day STI/HIV panels cheaply and without referral, and PEP is available through private emergency rooms (72-hour window). Registered sex workers are health-screened under the licensing system, but that is not a substitute for condoms, which every pharmacy and supermarket sells.
