Nigeria — Neighborhoods

The law splits in two. In the 12 northern Sharia states, prostitution and alcohol are severely punished — including corporal sentences — and there is no scene and no margin for error; do not test this. In the south, the Criminal Code criminalizes brothel-keeping and procuring (sections 223-225), and while selling sex sits in a grey zone, police raids and extortion around venues are routine. Lagos — Victoria Island hotel bars and clubs and Lekki Phase 1 nightlife are where the visible freelance scene operates; Ikeja's Allen Avenue is the historically documented street scene with a correspondingly high robbery risk. Abuja — Wuse Zone 4 is the long-documented nightlife-and-adult district. Port Harcourt — GRA hotel bars, though the Niger Delta security picture argues against discretionary travel.

The hazard profile is serious and specific: spiked drinks, dating-app setups ending in robbery or kidnap, armed robbery after dark, and police shakedowns of foreigners leaving venues. Move by app car between known points, keep nothing valuable on display, and verify age rigorously — under-18s in nightlife are a documented trafficking reality and the criminal exposure is catastrophic.
