Nepal — Transport & Getting Around

Kathmandu ride-hailing runs on Pathao and InDrive — motorbike taxis are the only reliable way through the city's jams. Street taxis are ubiquitous but almost never use the meter; negotiate before getting in, or use the prepaid taxi counter at Tribhuvan arrivals. Tourist buses to Pokhara leave from the Kantipath/Sorhakhutte area early morning and take 7–9 hours; the flight takes 25 minutes.

Domestic carriers (Buddha Air, Yeti and others) connect Kathmandu with Pokhara, Bhairahawa and the mountain airstrips, but every Nepali airline sits on the EU Air Safety List and weather cancellations are routine — leave a buffer day before any international connection. There is no meaningful rail network.
