Jordan uses the unified 911 emergency number, and tourist police operate in Amman, Petra and Aqaba with English capability. If arrested, request consular notification — Western embassies in Amman visit detainees and hold lists of English-speaking lawyers; hire private counsel immediately for any criminal matter and do not sign Arabic statements without translation. Public drunkenness is charged even though alcohol is legal, and adultery provisions can complicate any case where a Jordanian spouse files a complaint.

The 1960 Penal Code treats intercourse with anyone under 15 as rape with severe penalties, with further protective provisions covering minors up to 18 — treat 18 as the absolute operating floor. There is no legal sex trade, so no lawful minimum age exists; any commercial arrangement is itself an offence.
