The Jamaican dollar trades around JMD 155–160 to the US dollar. USD is accepted almost everywhere in tourist areas, but change comes back in JMD at unfavourable rates — carry both. ATMs are fine in towns; prefer machines inside bank branches or hotel lobbies to avoid skimmers, and note that foreign-card fees add up. Cards work at hotels and larger restaurants; bars, route taxis, and clubs are cash. Tip 10–15% where service is not already added; some all-inclusive resorts prohibit tipping.
