Israel — Transport & Getting Around

Tel Aviv's Red Line light rail opened 2023 and covers the Gush Dan corridor (single ride ~6 ILS on a Rav-Kav card); buses (Dan, Egged, Metropoline) blanket the country and Israel Railways connects Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Be'er Sheva and Ben Gurion. Gett and Yango are the dominant ride-hail apps — Uber does not operate here. Note that public transport shuts down for Shabbat (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset) outside a few Tel Aviv night-bus routes; sherut shared taxis and Gett fill the gap.

Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) is 20 minutes from Tel Aviv by train (~16 ILS) and 35 minutes from Jerusalem on the fast line (~27 ILS). Domestic flights are marginal: Arkia and Israir run Tel Aviv–Eilat (Ramon Airport, ETM), otherwise the country is small enough that trains and buses win.
