Israel — Insurance

Standard travel insurance is essential — Israeli private care is world-class but expensive, and a walk-in ER visit at Tel Aviv Sourasky (Ichilov) or Hadassah in Jerusalem runs several thousand shekels uninsured. Confirm your policy covers regional travel; many exclude the West Bank, Gaza envelope and Golan by default. Terma or Assuta private clinics handle same-day GP and pharmacy needs for tourists.

For STI testing and PEP, the Levinsky Clinic in south Tel Aviv (municipal, free and anonymous, walk-in) is the standard reference; Ichilov's infectious-diseases unit also provides rapid testing. Pharmacies (Super-Pharm, New Pharm) sell PrEP and emergency contraception; PEP is time-sensitive and only through hospital ER.
