Under the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017 Ireland follows the Nordic model: selling sex is legal, purchasing sex is a criminal offence (fine up to EUR 500 first offence, EUR 1,000 repeat), and brothel-keeping — defined as two or more sex workers sharing premises — remains illegal. Age of consent for all sexual activity is 17 under the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2006. Drug possession is criminalised under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977; personal-use cannabis typically draws a caution on first offence, harder drugs prosecution.
