Ireland — Currency & Money

Currency is the euro (EUR). Cards are accepted almost universally, including contactless for small purchases; Ireland is closer to cashless than most of the eurozone, and some pubs and cafés no longer take cash at all. ATMs (locally called "the machine" or Pass) are widely available and Irish banks generally do not charge foreign-card fees at the point of withdrawal, though your home bank may.

Tipping is modest and not compulsory: round up taxi fares, leave 10–15% in sit-down restaurants if service is not already added, and tip nothing in pubs for drinks at the bar. Bureaux de change exist at airports but rates are poor compared with ATM withdrawal.
