Greece — Legal Help

Sex work is legal only inside licensed brothels registered under Law 2734/1999: workers must be over 18, hold a health card, and reside in the country legally. Street solicitation, pimping and unlicensed premises are criminal offences. Age of consent is 15 under the Greek Penal Code, but any commercial sex requires the participant to be 18.

Drug possession is governed by Law 4139/2013: personal-use quantities are treated as a misdemeanour with treatment options, but supply and trafficking carry heavy prison terms. If detained, you may request an interpreter and consular contact; embassies (US, UK, Canada, Australia) are all in Athens and can supply lawyer lists but not legal representation.

Embassies & consular help

If you are detained, ask police to notify your embassy — they can provide a lawyer list and consular visits, but cannot pay fees or intervene in the case.
