Egypt — Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance with evacuation cover is essential — public hospitals are basic, and serious cases are stabilised then flown to Cairo or out of country. For paid care use private hospitals such as As-Salam International, Cleopatra or Dar Al Fouad in Cairo, and the Hurghada or Sharm International in the Red Sea. Most take walk-ins and card payment upfront, with itemised receipts for insurer reimbursement.

STI screening is available discreetly at private labs — Alfa Laboratories and Al Mokhtabar have branches across Cairo, Alexandria and the coasts, do full panels including HIV/HCV, and email English PDF results in 24–48 hours. PrEP and PEP are not routinely stocked; bring your own supply.
