Ayia Napa — the party capital: the bar-and-club cluster around the central square runs all summer, with strip clubs on the fringes; it is a young package-holiday crowd and largely seasonal (near-dead in winter). Limassol — the seafront and old town carry the year-round nightlife; the town's 'cabaret' venues were historically fronts for paid sex tied to trafficking under the notorious artiste visa, which the government abolished in 2009 — treat surviving cabarets with corresponding caution. The actual paid-sex market in Limassol and Nicosia is now mostly apartment-based and advertised online. Paphos — Kato Paphos Bar Street serves an older British tourist crowd. In the occupied north, casino-hotel nightclubs operate a state-tolerated hostess system, but that is a separate, unrecognised legal jurisdiction with different risks.
