In the Republic of Cyprus, selling sex independently as an adult is legal, but procuring, living off the earnings of prostitution and brothel-keeping are offences under the Criminal Code (Cap. 154), and anti-trafficking law 60(I)/2014 is actively enforced — venues that supply women are where police attention lands. The age of consent is 17; any commercial sexual act with a person under 18 is a serious crime. Emergency number 112. English is widely spoken by police, but request an interpreter and a lawyer before signing anything — you have the right to both from first questioning.

Western embassies and high commissions sit in Nicosia; they provide lawyer lists, detention visits and family notification only. Note they have very limited ability to assist in the occupied north, where their formal presence is minimal.
