EHIC and UK GHIC cover emergency treatment in the Republic's public hospitals, but standards vary and most expats use private clinics, so travel insurance matters — and check the fine print, because many policies exclude or limit the occupied north entirely. Private healthcare in Limassol and Nicosia is good and cheap by Western standards.

STI testing is available through public hospital GU services and, faster, through the private labs and clinics common in every southern city; HIV testing is available free and anonymously through the public system. PEP requires a hospital emergency department within 72 hours.
