Euro in the Republic; the north uses the Turkish lira, though euros are accepted there at unfavourable rates. Cards work in essentially all southern hotels, restaurants and supermarkets; keep some cash for village tavernas, kiosks and buses. ATMs are everywhere in tourist zones — decline dynamic currency conversion. Tipping around 10% is appreciated but not obligatory; some places add a service charge.
