Curacao — Insurance

Standard travel insurance suffices — Curaçao has the strongest healthcare in the Dutch Caribbean, anchored by the modern Curaçao Medical Center in Willemstad (opened 2019), and European-standard private clinics. EU EHIC/GHIC cards do not apply (outside Schengen and the EU health system), so carry commercial cover; medical evacuation to Colombia or the US is the fallback for complex cases and worth insuring.

STI and HIV testing is available through the public health service (analogous to a Dutch GGD) and private labs in Willemstad, typically with short waits and fees payable on the spot. The regulated sex-work model historically enforced health checks on registered workers, but that covers only the licensed compound — assume nothing about anyone met elsewhere. Condoms are in every supermarket and pharmacy; PEP is obtainable through the hospital emergency department within the 72-hour window.
