Euro since January 2023. Cards and contactless work everywhere, though konoba restaurants and beach bars sometimes prefer cash, and the discreet end of the adult scene is cash-only by nature. Coastal prices in July-August rival Western Europe; Zagreb is noticeably cheaper. Use bank ATMs and refuse the conversion offers on standalone Euronet machines.

Tipping is 10% in restaurants (often left in cash even when paying by card) and round-up in taxis. Dubrovnik and Hvar apply peak-season pricing to everything — check menus and club drink prices before ordering, since inflated-bill disputes with door staff are the most common tourist complaint.
