Costa Rica — Visa & Airports

US, UK, Canadian, and EU passport holders enter visa-free for up to 180 days (extended from 90 in 2023); there is no fee, but immigration can ask for proof of onward travel and often does. SJO (Juan Santamaría, outside San José) handles most long-haul traffic; LIR (Daniel Oduber, Liberia) takes North American flights for the Guanacaste coast. The old separate departure tax is now bundled into airfares.
